Governance confab calls on overdue amendments to autonomy law
Manila, 24 June 2005 Speakers at the Seminar on Decentralization in East Asia and the Philippines, led by Interior and Local Government Secretary Angelo Reyes and Bulacan Governor Josefina dela Cruz, called for the revival of stalled efforts to amend the Local Government Code of 1991, the Philippines’ pioneering legislation which decentralized governance and institutionalized local government autonomy.
